Women's counseling

Women's Counseling & Personal Growth

Ready to trust yourself again—and step into your next chapter? Being a woman today can feel like carrying a lot—often quietly. Social expectations, cultural messages, and the "perfect life" narrative can create pressure that is hard to live up to. Many women are managing an invisible mental load while moving through multiple roles: parent, partner, professional, caregiver, friend, student, daughter, or sister.

Women's counseling is more than symptom relief. It's about reclaiming your voice, strengthening confidence, and building a life aligned with your values. Emotional pain doesn't happen in isolation—it is often shaped by relationships, family roles, systemic pressures, trauma histories, and lived experience. Therapy honors your full context and supports change that is both compassionate and practical.

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

Why does my brain seem to work differently than others?

Many people experience differences in attention, organization, time management, and emotional regulation—often related to ADHD or executive function challenges. These patterns are not laziness or lack of effort. They reflect how the brain processes information and manages daily demands more effectively.

We provide evidence-based therapy and practical strategies to support focus, organization, emotional regulation, and daily functioning—helping you better understand how your brain works and build skills that support long-term success.

Couples therapy and marriage counseling

Couples Therapy and Marriage Counseling

Are you ready to create a more resilient, fulfilling partnership?

When conflict, stress, or past wounds keep pulling you into the same painful cycle, it can start to feel like you're losing each other—even when you both still care. Couples therapy can help you rebuild trust, improve communication, and feel emotionally close again.

Couples work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed care that supports both relationship repair and nervous-system regulation—so change isn't just something you understand, but something you can feel in the moment.

Dr. Linda's treatment approaches include EMDR therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment-informed therapy, the Gottman Method, polyvagal-informed interventions, and nature-based/ecotherapy practices. Together, you'll identify what's happening underneath the conflict: unmet attachment needs, protective patterns, nervous-system reactivity, trauma history, and disconnection. This creates a pathway from blame and distance to clarity, emotional safety, and teamwork.

Family therapy

Family Therapy

What does the future hold for your family's journey together?

Families go through seasons—stressful transitions, communication breakdowns, behavioral concerns, and moments when it feels hard to stay connected. Family therapy offers a safe, supportive space to slow down, understand what's happening beneath the surface, and rebuild trust one conversation at a time.

Our approach to family therapy

Our Approach to Family Therapy

Dr. Linda Timme provides trauma-informed, evidence-based family therapy grounded in relational and developmental science. Using approaches such as Family Systems Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) (as clinically appropriate), families learn practical tools to reduce conflict, strengthen communication, and create healthier patterns of interaction. The goal is not to "blame" one person—it's to support the whole family system toward greater clarity, connection, and resilience.

Family therapy can be helpful when navigating:

Parent–child conflict or communication struggles
Behavioral concerns and emotional dysregulation
Life transitions (divorce, relocation, blended family changes)
Grief, trauma, or stress impacting family functioning
Disconnection, tension, or recurring relational cycles
Cultural, immigration-related, or intergenerational challenges
What to expect in family counseling

What to Expect in Family Counseling

Family therapy typically begins with an assessment to clarify what's happening in the family system, identify patterns that keep the cycle going, and establish shared goals. Sessions may involve the whole family, parent/caregiver sessions, and child/teen participation based on developmental needs and clinical appropriateness. Treatment focuses on strengthening attachment, improving communication, supporting emotional regulation, your needs, and creating healthier routines and boundaries—so your family can move forward with greater stability and connection.

Together, we help your family grow, heal, and thrive—building a more connected future with stronger communication and greater emotional safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by reaching out through my website contact form, email, or phone.
How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?
My standard sessions are 55 minutes. How often we meet will depend on your needs and goals. If we use EMDR therapy, we may meet for 55 minutes or longer, depending on what is clinically appropriate. Additional time beyond 55 minutes is billed in 15-minute increments of $40.
How does payment work? Do you accept insurance?
My fee is $150 per session. I accept private pay through cash, check, or credit card. I do not accept insurance; however, my rate may be similar to what you would pay for an insurance co-pay. For personal or group retreats, flexible payment options may be available. Reduced-fee availability: Limited spots based on current openings. A few benefits to private pay for you to consider: • You do not need a diagnosis code for therapy—so you don't need a label of a specific diagnosis to see me. • You get to determine how many sessions you need, rather than the insurance company.
Is telehealth available?
Yes. Secure telehealth is provided in accordance with state licensure regulations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Peru (where appropriate).
What are the requirements for telehealth sessions?
You will need a stable internet connection, a private and quiet location, and a device with audio and video capabilities. For your safety and confidentiality, sessions cannot take place while you are driving. Headphones are recommended to help protect your privacy and enhance the quality of our time together.
Do you offer in-person sessions or retreats?
In-person sessions may be available in a retreat format, depending on scheduling. I also offer personal and group retreats at select times throughout the year. Retreat fees vary based on the location, length, and structure of the retreat. Please reach out for current availability, retreat offerings, and pricing details.
What is your cancellation or no-show policy?
I kindly request at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If less than 24 hours' notice is given, or in the case of a no-show, you may be charged the full session fee.
Who do you work with?
I provide counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and up, including older adults. I offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy.
What clinical concerns do you treat?
I specialize in working with trauma, PTSD/complex trauma, anxiety, OCD, grief and loss, family of origin concerns, parenting challenges, relationship issues, disordered eating, stress, and mind–body symptoms. I also support navigating life transitions, boundaries, and self-esteem concerns.
Do you work with minors, and what is your consent policy?
If working with minors, parental or guardian consent is required prior to beginning therapy. Both the minor and parent/guardian will review and sign consent forms before treatment begins.
How do you handle communication between sessions?
Email and phone communication are reserved for scheduling and administrative purposes. I do not provide therapy via email or text. I will respond to messages within 24–48 business hours.
What happens if I arrive late to a session?
If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time. The full session fee applies.
What is a Good Faith Estimate, and will I receive one?
A Good Faith Estimate is a written estimate of what your services may cost. Federal law requires health care providers, including therapists, to give an estimate to clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance. It outlines your expected out-of-pocket costs for scheduled services. You will receive your Good Faith Estimate with your initial intake paperwork.
